Im applying for this cycle, and I just wanna get some advice from you in case I have to reapply..
What would you do during a gap year to improve your chance if you have to reapply?
Is it a good idea to get a job?

It could be. Whatever you do for a year, make it at least partially something that will make you a better applicant. Schools want to see what you've done to improve. So if you can get an ER job or something else medicine-related, that would be best.

I would primarily find a research position, but also supplement it with various clinical, volunteering, or shadowing opportunities that allow you to continue showing a commitment to clinical medicine. Plus, you might get a publication/abstract out of your research which looks good on your CV even when applying to jobs in your 30s.

Finally, make sure your positions are open to taking time off to travel for interviews.

I know you will be accepted to at least one DO.
