Gen Chem 1+2 Together

I have cleared chem 1 by receiving a 5 on the chem exam. However, I was planning on taking both gen chem 1 and 2 over summer at a community just for educational purposes. I don't plan on transferring this credit over to college and instead, just go into the college's chem 2 class with a strong foundation. Is this strat recommended? I do love chem.
