Gen Surg Chances- IMG with high Step 1

So I'm interested in a categorical general surgery residency that will allow me to pursue a fellowship in either thoracic or MIS. I'm from big 4 Carib school, Columbia undergrad, 262 Step 1, Dean's list every year, one publication and two open projects with one likely more pub, all my core rotations are done at a very good US hospital and I aiming for a 270+ Step 2.
I am interested to find out what people think are my chances for landing a Gen Surg Cat spot that will allow me to obtain a fellowship at an academic institution. I want to stay in the northeast, particularly NY/NJ, so if anyone had any suggestions for academic programs or strong community programs that would be good matches I would really appreciate it.

You can match. But do your homework very carefully. There are some crappy programs out there.
Also, there are LOTS of bad programs in NY/NJ, try the Midwest.
