Gen surg chances?

OMS 4 here and I was just wondering what my chances are of gen surg.

COMLEX 594/641 USMLE 225/237
Honored all my clerkships, 3 surg/ 1 IM letter for surgery, plenty of volunteer and education work. No research. SOSA E-board memeber.

I plan on doing both AOA and ACGME programs.

I don't necessarily feel that I am qualified to discuss the chances of osteopathic students since I simply don't know enough about how all of it works. However, I am applying to gen surg so I feel like I know a bit...

Step scores are slightly below average but should not be the biggest deal. You honored in all your clerkships which is a huuuge thing. Research won't be a big deal (I have friends with literally no research who still matched at top tier places). Overall, I think you should be fine if you apply broadly and take a lot of interviews.

The only thing I would say is that I'm pretty sure (like 80% sure) that IM letters as a LoR is a big no-no for gen surg. You have 3 LoR from surgeons so I would use those.

Agreed on the LORs; only include those from surgeons for ACGME programs.
