hello all,
i am currently a categorical intern in gen surg. i'm actually really enjoying what i do, even though the hours have sucked and i've been tired and miserable a lot. an optho position just landed in my lap unexpectedly...and i'm considering it. it seems like a cool specialty...
i've always loved the OR, loved the acuity in general surgery, and loved taking care of sick patients. but at what cost?
it's hard not to consider less work and more money, and i'd still be a surgeon.
anyone out there done it? any thoughts?
thanks...

If you think you could be happy as an ophthalmologist, I suspect most people would say to go that route. Just remember it's really nothing like general surgery - good and bad!
