General Chemistry stress!

I don't know what's worse, gen chem or physics. Both make me want to stick pencils in my eyes!! I'm trying to study gen chem in the Kaplan book & having a hard time trying to memorize all this stuff. Anyone that took the MCAT in April, was there alot of gen chem stuff on the test or really detailed questions? I just can't remember all this stuff-probably because I hate it! Thanks for any responses!

It's supposed to be a 60/40 split, either way. I think mine was physics-heavy. Just know the concepts, and how to use the equations. That applies for g-chem and physics. I managed, by the end of my review course, to raise my PS score 5 points. Good luck!

I wouldn't rely on trying to guess the percentages of what gen chem/phys will be on the MCAT you take. Who knows what those MCAT folks think each time they write a new test. I started off using the Kaplan books and found they were pretty dense and detailed. I switched to the EK books and enjoyed the EK style and presentation much better. Might be worth a try. We all learn differently and like different things.

It also seems to me that straight memorization will only get you so far. As someone said... be sure to Learn the formulas and the concepts and do lots of practice problems and tests!! If you're weak on a concept review it.

And let me throw in my disclaimer... until I get my scores next week... all I can say is that this stuff seemed to work for me. You've got to find out what works for you.

Wait for next week before I give any personal advice habit As for study guide, I would recommend BK. I thought their material was excellent.
