What is the feeling with Drexel?

How does it compare to programs like Temple, Albany, NYMC, EVMS?

Good school overall?

based on what?
Ultrasound curriculum, rotation are local (no need to move), integrated curriculum (in blocks), a lot of free perks (such as free books, free Uworld, free tutoring - including free step 1 tutoring). We are personally affiliated (they are actually across the grass patch from us. literally) with level 1 trauma center that gets all the regional trauma, and stand alone children hospital and we are THE ONLY MEDICAL SCHOOL HERE, which means that we get dibs on everything, - all shadowing, all research. We are famous for urology, OB/GYN, cardiothoracic stuff, so we have incredible specialists in those. They are all very open to shadowing, - i shadowed so much already. We have NIH tissue bank here in urology, which is a huge perk. these are just a few that come to mind.

I was accepted to Drexel as well, but as soon as got accepted in EVMS, i quickly dropped. Dont take me wrong, you can be an amazing doctor coming out of any medical school in the US, but for me the attitude of the school, and resources that they offer was a deal breaker. When i started processing paperwork for Drexel after acceptance, i could never get a straight answer in ANYTHING. it was impossible to get in touch with people, like no one cared. In EVMS they are available every step of the way. When i barely passed my first exam in medical school, i made appointment with academic development, and they spend an HOUR building a study strategy with me. And the first question they asked was what works for ME, how MY brain works. ANd she was writing notes, making a plan, and later emailed me to follow up. So they do things like this, - they invest time into us, they take care of us.

The last part... drexel did that with me too. My course directors tutored me personally and my student affairs people got me an academic coach. We also have an academic development person.

Philly has five med schools lol it’s hard not to have overlap. That doesn’t mean a place like Penn is a bad medical school.

Drexel has its flaws like any other... but i matched and my class matched well. Im doing well in residency so far via feedback ive received. Hahnemann closing sucked for everyone.
