I have just finished my first year of pre-med and I'm looking for advice on ways I can continue to improve my future application to medical schools. Here are the current activities I've done this year and a few things I will be doing going into my second year.

cGPA & sGPA: 4.0

Clinical volunteering: Currently I volunteer at a large hospital nearby my university. I volunteer in the physical therapy floor and have been doing so since the beginning of this year. I plan on continuing to volunteer in the hospital around 4 hours a week. In July, I am being moved from the PT floor to the mother and baby unit! 🙂
This summer I am going to be shadowing a few doctors in various specialties. (anesthesiology, orthopedic surgery & pediatrics)

Nonclinical volunteering: I volunteer at an animal shelter and have done some miscellaneous volunteering with the honors college. I also volunteer once a week at a nearby elementary school and I help out in the art room.

Other activities: Since the beginning of the school year I have been tutoring in math and science (This is tutoring children but is not affiliated with the university) This fall I have been offered a position to be a TA for an anatomy class and will being peer tutoring in my universities tutoring center. One of my anatomy professors has been a great mentor for me and is helping me find a research lab to work in for the next school year. Additionally, I am an athlete and I also coach this sport.

I'm looking for other activities to pursue this summer. I'm taking a class the second half of the summer (Gen chem 2), continuing to volunteer in the hospital and at the animal shelter. I've also been considering volunteering at a nearby children's hospital and going on a service learning trip to Peru (It is a medical related trip) Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
Overseas missions are viewed as medical tourism. Help people here in the US.
Otherwise, so far, so good.
