Hi there,

Finished Gen Surg residency in 2006. Taking my boards now. I know I know.
Looking for a partner to study with.
I'm in LA.
Cheers.

Okay...really trying to figure this out.

ABS counts eligibility by academic years

OP graduated in 2006; academic year 2005-06

ABS rules (prior to 2012-13):
-Must apply for QE within 3 academic years of completing residency
-Have a 5 year window upon application approval, with up to 5 attempts over 5 years (First attempt must happen year of or after application approval)

So...

2005-06: Graduated
2006-07:
2007-08:
2008-09: (Last year to apply for QE)
2009-10:
2010-11:
2011-12:
2012-13:
2013-14: (Last year of 5 year window)
2014-15:
2015-16:
2016-17: Next testing administration (Jul 2016)

Can anyone figure out something I can't? I've obviously not taken or applied for the exam yet...

Only thing I can think of is that this isn't the first time the OP has taken boards. Perhaps they have done the reentry program to get another chance at boards. They had to have done one of the readmission pathways to get eligible. I can't see any other way it would be possible from 2006 graduation.
