Hi, I'm thinking of applying for Surgery Residency in the 2016 match so I thought I'd post my question here.
Step 1: 262
Step 2: 258
Cs: clear 1st attempt
US citizen.

My entire resume is medicine based but now I'm getting interested in surgery. Do you guys think I have a legitimate shot at matching into a categorical surgery program? What if I do an observership in surgery and get a few american Surgery LOR's? Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your step scores and US citizenship are in your favor. US letters of recommendation are definitely advantageous.

If you haven't already graduated then you should plan on doing electives rather than observership.
