Hey Guys! I am currently a junior at a university and I am a Pre Pharm student. But so far, I don't have ANY experience at all except shadowing a GI specialist at a hospital (Was a pre med before switching). I have talked to some people who are Pre Pharm students and they said that it would help a lot if you get like a Pharm Tech job somewhere and also shadowing there as well. But I have read so far that you have to pass an exam and be certified to get that job. So is there any other way to get a job at a retail pharmacy without having to go through all of that. I would really appreciate it if you guys help me out on this. Thanks!

Depends on your state, but my guess is that 99% of them requires some type of certification or license. It's never too late to study and take the test.

Have you considered volunteering/shadowing a pharmacy first?

Otherwise, look for a pharmacy clerk position.

In Kentucky and indiana, and probably a lot of other states, you can work for up to a year without being "certified"....you do have to register with the board of pharmacy, but that's just a form

I live in Tennessee. Yes, I am also considering volunteering/shadowing as well, but I also wanted like a part-time job because it looks good for pharmacy schools. What exactly is pharmacy clerk position? Is it more like being a cashier?
