Hey guys,

So I was fortunate enough to gain some acceptances to dental schools during my gap year, and I was wondering, do you guys think I should get braces before dental school, or should I get them during dental school (do they offer their students discounts at all?).

Any and all advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys, thanks!

They should offer student discounts, however keep in mind it is difficult for ortho residents to see cases to completion since their residency is only 2 years long. If you need minor tooth movement, go for it. For anything more than that, you may be seeing several residents over time, or a faculty member in faculty practice, where there are probably no discounts.

It greatly depends by the school how much of a discount you get. At my school all you have to pay for is lab fees if you have work done by dental students.

If you have work done by residents it's not free, but still pretty heavily discounted.
