Hey guys. I am a podiatry student who recently got engaged. I am posting in this section because our boards on this site get little traffic and our school schedule is pretty similar to yours. Anyways I got engaged recently... Currently in year one. Was wondering if anyone reading this has gotten married / had a wedding during school. If so was wondering when and how you pulled it off with such busy and demanding schedules?

Seems like there is very little time to do it other than the summer between year one and two. Since I just got engaged it looks like there is not going to be enough time to pull it off over this upcoming summer. Since this summer is the only time I get a real break, I am a little dumbfounded as to when to have a wedding and go on a honeymoon.

So essentially has anyone here gotten married during school at a time other than the summer between year 1 and 2? If so when? How did you do it? Did you have a honeymoon?

Thanks so much for any responses.

Yup. Just got engaged and the wedding will be next year. I'm currently a 2nd year so that means the wedding will be during our 3rd year rotations. Do you get elective months like med school? If so, I just chose a track which allowed me to have that particular month off. Also planning on taking a 5 day honeymoon afterward. It's obviously tough with the demands of school (for instance I'm having my bachelor party a year in advance!) but it's doable. Good luck and congrats!

Didn't think of that! Thanks. We dont get elective months but we do have gaps between our rotations. I will have to talk to some upper class men at my program and get an exact schedule.... like the idea of having a bachelor party this summer when I don't have much going on. Thanks for your help!

My husband proposed first year, then moved 3 states away for a job. We weren't able to put our wedding together until Spring Break of 2nd year, when I had a week off. We honeymooned in Vegas after I took Step 1 that June.

If you don't get Spring Breaks, I agree with previous posters--it might not be the easiest to manage, but a gap between rotations, or the use of one week of discretionary/vacation time should be enough to at least get the ceremony out of the way. Honeymooning gets a bit more complicated, especially if you're more exotic than we were.

Best wishes with the wedding plans, and congratulations on your engagement!
