Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to get married (i.e. taking time off to get married and honeymoon) after 2nd year? That summer? No idea about the flexibility of clerkships...thanks.

I have been pondering that same subject for awhile now. I can't speak from experience, but if you check out the spouses & partners forum, they might be able to help you out!

You need to plan it in June...between boards and the 1st of July. Flexibility in clerkships to get married is not something to expect or plan on.

Best time seems to be between MSI and MSII, lots of others are doing it over the winter break during MSII, I guess if you get any time off after boards, before rotations start, that would work too. The only time it would be impossible (IMHO) is during rotations...but then again it would depend on how your school sets up your rotation schedule. If you know your vacation blocks far enough in advance, this could work as well. It would be impossible at LECOM!

My fiancee and I are getting married in early June betwen MSI and MSII.

My fiance and I are getting married in early October of MS-II year. We are then planning a winter break honeymoon! It seems as though it will work out just fine for us. We decided on this time after asking the advice of a now to be MS-III who did it this way at my school!! 🙂

We met while we were MS 1s during Anatomy.

Bonded during Neurosensory system through all the suffering and pain. 🙁

She saved me from my brief stint with Alcoholism after boards.

We got engaged in Maui after 3rd year. 😀

Gonna get married after graduation, but before intern year starts. Perfect block of time for us because there's a nice gap and we plan to finish with some easy rotations like Derm, Radiology... There's a nice block of time there, but it might not be right for you depending on if you would like to wait that long.

So yes, it's possible to find someone in your medical school class. It's always in the place where you least expect.

No one knows that.... And don't let your family set you up with that "nice girl: from church/ grandma knows/ with the funny teeth", find your own woman. Let nature take it's course. You're bound to find someone in Med School, rotations etc..... From what I can gather, young Dr's are a hot commodity!!

I just got married between MSII and MSIII and it worked out well for us. Of course, we didn't have time for a honeymoon, but we couldn't afford it anyway. We figure we'll take a really nice one when we have both time and money.

My mom met herfirst husband over a cadaver as an MS1.

Had her first divorce as an PGY1.

My wife and I were married winter break of year 1. Worked great. It is fantastic being married in med school!

🙂 Hi, we are both MSIVs and we got married this summer (between MSIII and MSIV). Our school had classes through the summer from MSI to MSII, so that wasn't an option for us. We were fortunate to have the flexibility at our school to choose when our fourth year vacation would be, so we chose the beginning of our fourth year and took about 3 weeks off - one week to prep (drive back home), one week for the wedding, and one week for the honeymoon. Good luck, it all depends on your school schedule.
