I am a junior at Umich and have just recently decided that I am pre-med. Luckily my major, biomedical engineering, has given me most of the pre-req's that I need already. To be able to take the MCAT this April, I just need to get the Orgo's in. One question is whether it is imperative to take both Orgo I and Orgo II before the MCAT. Also, do you think I am rushing things? I feel like there are a few extra classes I would like to take to prepare for med school, and I certainly feel like I need a lot of preparation time for the MCAT. So, should I rush things and take the MCAT this April or take it next April and then get my master's in the extra year (we have a five year program to get your bachelor's and master's)? Would having my master's benefit me at all later down the road? I know in general if you have more degrees people think you are more qualified, so you can maybe get a job easier and maybe get paid more. It seems like a master's in biomedical engineering wouldn't make much difference, though, if I have an M.D. If I take the MCAT in August 2004, do you think I would be able to get my apps in on time to start med school in 2005? Thanks in advance for your help!
