Does anyone know of a good gift for a doctor, who has been a great research mentor?

i think doctors know what it's like to be a poor student and would be embarrased that you spent money on them for something they don't need. why not write them a really really nice thank you note - and bake them cookies or something. or a nice bottle of wine would probably work.

If you discover something of major scientific import in their lab, they would consider that the nicest gift you could give.
