Berkeley incoming 3rd-year
Ethnicity: Asian (Indian)
State: California (no ties anywhere)
cGPA 3.92
sGPA 3.90
MCAT: 512 (128/126/128/130)

These will be my hours AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION (May 31, 2019)

3 Meaningful
-Research: 500 hours, one 1st-author publication in a no-name journal
-Undergrad TA for biology lab: 500 hours
-Hospital volunteer: 220 hours

Other Activities:
-Research (Old lab freshman year and partially soph year): 150 hours, nothing accomplished here tho
-Undergrad TA for English course: 100 hours
-President of Berkeley service club: 300 hours
-Primary care shadowing: 20 hours
-Specialty shadowing: 15 hours

Is it likely I will get into any MD schools if I submit on May 31, 2019? Which schools would you recommend that I have a good shot at? Realistically, what's the probability that I would get into at least 1 MD school (assuming average to slightly below average interview skills lol). Btw, these will be my hours WHEN I apply.

Accumulate 50 hours of shadowing before you apply and add more hospital volunteering hours.

What are the pros/cons of my application? Do you see any major holes?

I was primarily concerned about low clinical experience; I can try to increase this but I'm not sure how many hours are good, if I only have 1 clinical experience (volunteering at a hospital).

It's a fine app. You might want to get off campus, out of your comfort zone, and engage in service to others less fortunate than yourself.

And a reminder: we can only estimate chances as to getting IIs. getting accepted into med school, is 100% on you.

I agree with Goro. Your app is pretty ok, but use this year to get something interesting and exciting on your app. If you have the time, you can try racking up hours volunteering with the homeless, getting a scribe job, traveling to participate on an international mission trip (global brigades, IVHQ, project abroad), or even volunteering within the VA. Gettin into medical school is hard, annoying, and unpredictable. However, adding something to your app that adcoms don’t see everyday, increases your chances tremendously! Good luck on your cycle next year :)
