GMO to Iraq equal a years stay

Does being shipped to iraq qualify you for a years stay or are tours generally six months. Just curious because a gmo friend of mine is being sent there for a six month stint. Will this turn out to be a year?

It depends, on whether your friend is Army, Navy or Air Force.

I presume that your friend is Navy, and likely FMF(with the Marines) in which case the above answer of 7 months is more likely is probably the correct one.

If your friend is Air Force, then its likely a 6 month tour, since they have been talking for a long time about decreasing cost by keeping folks over here longer.

If your friend is Army, then a year is much more likely.

Please note, all the above answers are possibilitys, since needs of the (name of service here) outweigh absolutely everything else.
