I am on wait-list at a school and have been accepted to two other schools. The school I am on hold at is the best school I've interviewed at so far. Anyways, my advisor told me that I should just go over to that school's admissions office and tell them that I've been accepted to two other places and still would love to attend thier school. He said that this tactic would work b/c the admissions committee would see my committment to the school.

What do you huys think? Is this tactful?

I think you should write a nice letter of intent first, put on some nice clothes and hand deliver it. Possibly before you go, make an appointment with the dean or something like that. But you need something in writing they can add to your file. Going there in person may not be remembered, but your letter will get there faster because of it and will be placed in your file for all of adcoms to see.

Good luck, and welcome to SDN!! 😀

I used the "i've been accepted elsewhere but would still attend your school" line with UF, my alma mater. I think it worked against me! All along, UF has tried to place physicians in the panhandle of FL. Well, it just so happens that the school that has accepted me is LESS THAN TWO HOURS AWAY FROM THE PANHANDLE!!! Perhaps they think I will be more likely to stay if I attend med school there.

Send a letter expressing your interest. If you want to mention the fact that you have acceptances, go ahead. I don't know that it will help you.

BU mentions in their "acceptable" letter that if you have acceptances at another school but would rather go to BU, tell them so. This leads me to believe that you should tell them you have been accepted elsewhere, BUT WILL DEFINITELY MATRICULATE at the school at which you are waitlisted if accepted.
