I know a guy in town who got bought out for couple million plus at time by PE in the early aughts. He continued to work for them then they lost their shirts for whatever reason and he bought his practice back for pennies on the dollar and continued making 7 figures for another ten years before retiring

There was a big group in Minneapolis who got bought out by private equity. Same thing. The owner/founder took the money and retired, then came back a couple of years later and bought his practice back for pennies on the dollar after the equity guys had run it into the ground, chased off all the docs with burnout productivity, etc.
