By the end of this semester, I would have finished all my pre-reqs for med school. However, I do not have any upper-level bio classes under my belt. I am planning on taking some upper-level bio classes and biochemistry during the upcoming school year. My question: Is it a good idea to take the MCAT this august or would it be more beneficial for me to wait until april next year?

Do you feel pretty good about your grasp of the pre-req material? Will you have more time to study this summer or next year? The advantage of doing it this August is that you'd have it out of the way and the material might be more fresh in your mind. I'd suggest taking a practice test from AAMC right away, see how you do, and then go from there. You can take 3R for free at www.e-mcat.com. Good luck!
