hey,
im taking ochem this semester and was hoping any of u know of a good supplement book. ie, for general chem i read kaplan's ap chem book and for physics i read the princton review ap physics book.

having such a book allows u to understand concepts more easily since supplement books are more "to the point"

but since theres no AP equivalent of ochem, u guys know of any good material to supplement the class?

I'm starting organic chemistry in a couple of days as well, and I've been doing some prep. reading. I figured I'd leave all the reaction stuff until the actual class, but I've been reading about nomenclature from the book, Naming Organic Compounds: A Programmed Introduction to Organic Chemistry by James E. Banks. It goes through aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic and homocyclic compounds, and then it gets into naming functional groups (hydroxy, nitro, phenyl, carbonyl, carboxy, ester, ether, amine, ...).

I've never done this stuff before so it'll all be helpful for me, but if you've already done this sort of thing that it wouldn't be worth getting the book. Hope this helps. Good luck with organic chemistry.
