I just had an interview 2 weeks ago and am getting impatient to hear back (although I know very well it could be good news as well as bad). So, those in that interviewed and have not yet heard (and don't have a job for winter break), what are you doing to distract yourself from thinking about it? Any good distractions (like good books or something of that effect) would be appreciated. I admire all you guys hanging in there! The anticipation kills me! I've been complete since August to October, and most schools - no word.
I just updated a week ago with fall grades, and hopefully that helps, but I don't know. I busted my butt to get a 4.0 semester, but was it worth it? Will schools even consider it? I don't know. Sorry I'm ranting, just tired I guess. 😴

yup! i have been complete with all of the schools i applied to for a while now, some (like USC) were the end of july, others (like rush and loyola) were in early august and UIC was early september! i just keeping thinking at this point that no news is good news....no rejections yet, right?

i had my first and only interview in november, and it killed me to have to wait a month to hear from them....but, when you work full time and have a house to take care of time goes by quickly! so, before i knew it, it was time to call and find out if i got in, which i did, so now i can relax a lot more about the other schools!

try to keep busy - run, read a good book, and keep your house REALLY CLEAN! go out with friends and talk about ANYTHING but med school! work! and before you know it, the day has arrived!

GOOD LUCK! :luck:

Hey Thanks for the encouragement, I know it'll be a couple of weeks yet. I think I'm just worried about my stats and all since I applied being a science major for only a year. Well, I finished the pre-reqs and about 30 credits of science work beyond that, but think that I know I'm not a superstar like the rest of you. Got a 31 on the MCATs, I was happy, but it's pretty average. . and less than average since it was an MD-PhD program. Well, can't anticipate the worst I guess. Clean apartment? What's that? ha ha . Good idea, though. Keep me busy a couple hours at least. I go back to school and work in three weeks, so I guess it's not that bad. Thanks though.

Only prize for right now. She tried to come three months early, little bugger. We ended up having her at 31 weeks this past summer. She's doing amazing now and her name is Emory. And no I didn't apply to Emory medical school, nor was she born there, just a cool name.

just a cool name.

indeed! boy names are so much easier to pick than girl names...i already have 3 solid boy names (complete with middle names) picked out but only 1 girl name

Man, you rich and spoiled Utah kids really have it all. Hawaii? enjoy. Don't make #2. Too much stress for the beginning of med school. 👍

Personally, I stalk my mailman. I know where he lives, what he likes to eat, what time he wakes up, when he starts his mail route, when he delivers mail to my neighbors, when he delivers mail to my house, if he has access to the mail on Sundays...

Yes, but how do you get this? It's not so easy for some of us with acne and a third nipple... guys just don't go for that.

Speak for yourself. "triple" your fun!!

Ha ha, thanks. And thanks for your tips, I needed that. I just need to get my mind off the applications/interview process. So, I bought a book Stiff. It's good 🙂 Funny, anyways

Jbone...i can no longer look at cats the same way....you've permanently burned that image into my retinas

In order to pass time, go watch Kong....I'd have its subtitle be this "Lord of the Rings Part 2...except without a Ring...or hobbits...actually, there is nothing in common with LotR except that its long as crap"

Newcastle, XBOX, and surfing. Not necessarily in that order.

Bring it kim. Halo time!! 👍

You must be dedicated if you can't think of any distractions. I work a lot to fight distractions, as they seem to occur all the time.

Don't male cats have spikes on their penises that keep them inside of the female until they ejaculate? :scared:

I think I learned that on the animal channel.

No way, you'll definitely beat me... I'm more of a Splinter Cell girl, myself.

PS, loving your avatar

I haven't played Halo in such a long time...i think i'm going through withdrawals.

And yeah, that must suck for female cats....nothing like a barbed penis.

Yes my friend....yes indeed :meanie:

My guide to distraction from med school processes:

pick up a new hobby, play some counterstrike, read and read some more, listen to a ton of new music, rearrange your room once a week, try Pulparindo (Mexican sweet and hot candy made from tamarind), watch some cerebral movies that can generate hours and hours of discussion like Donnie Darko, Mulholland Dr., or The Usual Suspects, watch a TV show from the beginning (i suggest Lost and Six Feet Under), learn how to drive stick-shift, and lastly get a ****load of sleep!

do this and you are guaranteed to be distracted from anything medical related and you will have fun doing it...trust me.

k gluck! 👍

I highly recommend Lost...i tried to go to Frys the other day, but they were sold out. Apparently they were selling the whole first season for like $20....I wish i had enough time to waste on DVDs. I also suggest Arrested Development and Freaks and Geeks

Freaks and Geeks was great....yeah, only 1 season, but it was totally worth it. now they are trying to get rid of Arrested Development and the bluth banana stand for good. Such good shows, but oh well.

And yes...bittorrent is my friend 😀 😀

i loved freaks and geeks, why the HELL did they ever cancel it....

No idea....but then again, there are a bunch of good TV shows that get cancelled. I'm guessing it may not have had a big enough following for Fox (or whoever carried it) to make money. Beats me

I caught up with Lost last week. Greatest show EVER. Now I'm watching 24. I still think jack shepard is better than jack bauer, but bauer will probably kill shepard in a second. Both are great shows, highly recommend watching them as a time killer.

I never really got into 24....i'm not sure why, but the idea of fitting an entire season of show into 24 1-hour shows (or a single day for that matter) it a little disconcerning. I dont know...i've seen a couple of episodes but wasn't necessarily enthralled
