Match day is coming up. Get really drunk the night before, so that you won't spend the night up worrying.

I actually woke up at 3am last night stressing out of the middle of nowhere. I don't stress on whether I will match but WHERE I will match. The actual program doesn't worry me so much. There's just a stark contrast in the difference in cities and living situations.

Yeah, I'm nervous. :(

Ya, I am pretty stressed with too much time to think about the scramble, where will I match ...Whew, I shoulda had a V-8. I think I will run a Ketamine drip for the next few days and wake-up for the match. I wish you all the best match luck.

As someone who has already matched, I can appreciate the level of anxiety. But, as my girlfriend said the night before, "You're gonna match; it's just a question of where."

So, just remember. You're all going to match somewhere. You may not get your first choice, but you will get one of your choices. But more importantly, you'll match in your specialty of choice.

Dang it, these kinda postings ain't helping my anxiety. Sumbody gimme a slug of beta-blocker please, freaking heart is popping out of my chest wall everytime I think about next Thursday.

A question, Neutropeniaboy, if I may: If you're an M4 as your profile says, how is it you're matched already? I thought American med students were bound by the Match exclusively. Are you in a foreign school? I hope that's not too personal. I thought Match Day was tomorrow, Tuesday, March 19, 2002, as one program director told me last Friday. Just curious.

NuMD97,
There are some U.S. 4th year medical students that have already matched. There are a couple of ways this is possible. First, you could have already matched through the military match (happened in December). Second, there are several specialties that do an "early match" in January (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Urology, ENT, and Opthalmology). This is how someone could have already matched. Match day for people who are going into other fields (and are not in the military) is on Thursday, March 21.

Hope this info helps...

I see, midwest girl. Thanks for your reply. I was just curious.

There is also one other way to have matched prior to today's match, if you entered the Osteopathic match which was in February.
