looks like there will be many more spots this year that in prior years...

Not only are there quite a few programs who were not taking applicants last year and are this year... but there are some programs who are taking more residents as well....

I heard UNC, Colorado, and UCLA all have spots this year...

Even better news, Yale just got approved for a ninth resident. I believe this means they will be taking 3 instead of 2 residents.

Good luck everyone who is applying this year.

take care,

i wouldnt be surprised if there were even more applicants....

lets get a perspective. even if the rate of applicants dropped to the 1998 level it would still be very competitive.

Wouldn't it be nice to know how many applicants are participating in this year's match? I've created an anonymous username and password:

If you'd like to post how many applicants you know of from a certain school, this is the place to do it. With any luck, enough people will respond and we'll all know what our odds are of matching this year. Be honest in reporting numbers! Only US Seniors please.

I'll start:

1) Medical College of Wisconsin--> 2 applicants

1) Medical College of Wisconsin--> 2 applicants
2) UNC - 1

I don't understand why more people aren't posting here..what's the harm? You know we all want to know what's out there, why hold back? It can't hurt any of us to know how many applicants there are from each school..:confused:

you must remember that most applicants prbably aren't looking here.

FYI - Pitt isn't interviewing this year. Kind of my fault, since someone dropped out in the PGY-3, and now I'm an 'extra' PGY-2, so we won't graduate anyone in 2008. Sorry.

Which program is "Pitt?" (pardon my ignorance...just don't want to waste $25 on ERAS..thanks!)

For anyone who is interested, there is an article by Lynn Wilson and Bruce Haffty in the Oct 1 2006 issue of the Red Journal analyzing the 2006 NRMP statistics for radiation oncology. In summary, the ratio of applicants to spots going through the Match has actually decreased since 2003 (from 1.8 --> 1.5). Take it with a grain of salt, but I thought this might be at least somewhat reassuring to some of this year's applicants.

Michigan State??? Did you mean U of M? I wasn't aware that Michigan State had a rad-onc program. They aren't listed on FREIDA.

These #'s represent # of applicants from each SCHOOL, it has nothing to do with residency positions. . .

how do you have half an applicant?

I think since it's a Stanford applicant, it's not one .5 applicant, but rather a 1.5 applicant :laugh:

Sorry, my mistake, read it shortly before I took a nap
