If you're interested in staying on the east coast, check out Morristown Memorial Hospital (NJ). I did a rotation there as a fourth year student, and had an amazing experience. First of all, they put you up in a one bedroom apartment across the street from the ED (saved me a fortune in housing costs), and your meals are covered while you're on duty.
The teaching (both clinical and didactics) were great, and the residents are truly happy to be there. Everyone gets along really well, and seem to enjoy each other's company. Faculty are top notch, and the program director (Richard Shih) is VERY student friendly. In fact, he meets with students as a group at least one time per week, as well as individually during the rotation. I got to know him really well, and he will write anyone a LOR who does a rotation there. Everyone in academic EM on the east coast knows about MMH and Dr. Shih, and a LOR from him is a real asset when it comes time to apply for residency.
Other good community hospital ED programs on the east coast to look into:
Christiana in Delaware (where I'll be next month)
York in PA (already mentioned above)
St Lukes in Bethlahem PA
Morristown Memorial Hospital (already mentioned)
Good luck!
