I said I would post the list, but others beat me to it. Anyway, like I said, I saw the book yesterday, and it didn't inspire confidence. I looked at booth the undergrad Gourman book and graduate book from 1997. Trust me, they are not very believable. First, the methodology is never explained. Second, the number of things ranked is just unbeleivable. For example, in undergrad he ranks the top 10-30 schools in every conceivable major. Not just biology and English, really wierd stuff that you didn't know was a major. In the grad book, for example, not only does he rank every American med school, he goes on to rank the top 50 or so foreign medical school. No, not Canadian and Carribean, I mean European and Asian med schools. How the hell do you rank the top med schools in Tokyo?
Anyway, the Gourman American med school ranking is basically what we all know, just with a few surprises (Harvard, Hopkins, etc.) But since there is no explanation for the surprises, and the list is pretty old, I don't take it very seriously.
I've been looking for this book for years, but sadly, it's no holy grail.
