How will your GPA’s be listed on your ERAS/Dean’s letters/etc.? Do you have one cumulative GPA for all four years or is the GPA split—basic sciences (years 1-2) and clinical rotations (years 3-4) or some combination thereof? Thanks!!

I was wondering what each student's school happens to include. We're trying to figure out what recommendations to offer our faculty/staff, and we were looking to compare.

I have no idea. I don't think overall GPA is even listed on our Dean's Letter. I think it's on our transcript as a cumulative of all 4 years. But that doesn't even matter that much bc they can see each individual grade in every course.

Hi Biscuit, we're at the same school. Things are happily insane, 3rd year, FYI. We're hoping that we can find out if other schools split the clinical/science scores on the overall GPA, so that the non-honoring grades don't drag you down, and that things are clear on the "letter." If you're lucky our class can get it sorted out so we look like other schools' letters, and your class won't have to deal with this fun fun fun stuff. 🙂

As far as I know at our school pre-clinical and clinical are provided in separate break downs as well as the percentage students receiving each score. However, in the pre-clinical years the only grades are P and F, so the breakdown is simply into P and F, whereas for clinicals they have Honors, HP, Pass, Fail.

Small world 😀 Sounds like a fun issue to get sorted out, good luck with that. I've done my fair share of rabble-rousing, trying to get some administrative things changed. No successes thus far. Glad to hear third year is going well! I start with OB in the summer, hopefully I'll be able to keep my shoes clean...
