I know that MD schools average the two grades for a class that you re-took and that DO schools consider only the higher grade, I was wondering how SMP Programs calculate your GPA when you have retaken classes.

Much thanks.

From what I've seen, most programs play by the AMCAS rules (i.e. Drexel IMS, Georgetown SMP) although DO-specific SMPs might use grade replacement. It's probably a good idea to contact the programs you're interested in directly and ask whether or not you're a competitive applicant.

id agree with TyrKinase.

Assume AMCAS (unless its a DO-specific) - that way you wont be over-expecting the change in GPA
