A useful list for applicants next year:

Some schools apparently have a GPA cutoff by computer or whatever, where they will not even look at the rest of the application unless you're above a certain number. For those schools there is no point in sending a secondary plus the associated dollars. These numbers are obviously not published, since it's a cash cow for their admissions department. Is this true? And if so, can we start a list? For example, the recent thread "Stupid Rejection!" had a Canadian school (thanks for posting which one, by the way) with a cutoff:

Canadian school: 3.86

Being an applicant for the class of 2007 I say that a list would be a great idea! Even though this thread will be based on pure speculation and guess work [since there is no published cut offs] I think it will help much. So 2006ers enter data at will 😀

I was told the same thing from an admissions director. She told me that you have the right to call the schools and ask what their cut-offs are before sending in your check. Now, if they tell you....that is another story.

Yes it's called 'the freedom of information act'. They are legally bound to tell you.

University of Ottowa: 3.83 GPA
University of South Alabama: 30 MCAT (for out-of-staters)

Can you confirm the USA info, Cobragirl? I think I pulled this from a thread you made a long time ago.

University of Utah:
Non-Disadvantaged (ie male asian and male caucasian): 3.5 Sci GPA, 30 MCAT

Disadvantaged: (ie female and minorities): 2.5 science and all other GPA, 21 MCAT

from the Utah State Legislature #2002-01 Jan. 2002

NYU specifically says on its website that you need 10s on all sections of the mcat before applying.

I think georgetown says the same thing, although I'm sure exceptions have been made.

I think this is post #550 (I wasn't paying attention to number 500, so go me!)

Florida state schools require high stats from out of staters, info is online

I guess my attempt at a list went to hell.

Here's another:

UAB - out of state applicants MUST have a 10 in each section of the MCAT. I think a 3.5 or greater is also required.

I emailed EVMS a long time ago and was told that the cut-off MCAT for out-of-staters is 30 and for in-staters is 28. However, I have heard of out-of-staters getting interviews with 28s so I don't know what the deal is.

i don't think they either of these schools adhere to this requirement.
