Unfortunately GPA is pretty (but not wholly) dependent on the school you go to and what major you took, which is why the MCAT is there. Plus SDN is not representative. So no one get discouraged by the gpas now!defrunner said:Oh my god, all of your GPAs are sick. Wow, they are awesome.
Congrats to all of you; no doubt you worked your ass off and will continue to be successful in med school. Good luck with your applications, not that you need it, haha. I'll need a double dose of that myself, though. My goodness.
I wouldn't be worried. The impression I get is that schools prefer to see a certain GPA, but if it's above that threshold then they start looking at other stuff. I'm certainly not banking on my GPA alone getting me in anywhere.musiclink213 said:What? Only 7 people so far with GPA's between 3.5 and 3.6? Wow. I'm hoping the upward trend thing will count for something.
For me, my GPA is 3.56, which is actually .01 higher than what it says on my official transcript. No grade lower than a B. I feel really inadequate with all these people with high GPA's.
My GPA identical twin! I'm Aerospace Engineering from the Naval Academy though.WilliamsF1 said:3.98 Cumulative
Econ degree. Business Law is what did it for me, but it was one of my favorite classes. A lot more interesting than Physics and Gen Chem imo.
Edit: University of Florida
Does a downward trend look bad?musiclink213 said:What? Only 7 people so far with GPA's between 3.5 and 3.6? Wow. I'm hoping the upward trend thing will count for something.
i went down too... but i had a family illness which was preceded by family drama.. as of this summer im back up to straight As... i totally ruined my GPA and then decided to take time off from school. i should have done that earlier but i thought i could handle it im a 3.4+ person.. will be a 3.5+ after summertaylormade44 said:Does a downward trend look bad?
My first three semesters I had a pure-A streak...then it went dooowwwnnn lol
Cool! Good luck with your applications! I looked at your MDapplicants profile and it sucks to hear about UF and biochem. I didn't even know about that til my last semester and I was a student at UF! I had to scramble to get it into my last semester.danjo said:My GPA identical twin! I'm Aerospace Engineering from the Naval Academy though.
