    The official versions are to be found in the Medical School Admissions Requirements 2000-2001. I have the 1999-2000 before me.

    Universidad Central de Caribe
    Usual admission requirements, but 6 credits college math, 12 credits English, 6 credits Spanish, Behavioral/social sciences/humanities 12 credits.
    1997 entering class: mean GPA 3.2; 53% of entering class women.

    Ponce SOM
    Usual admission requirements plus Humanities, 12 credits; English, 12 credits, Spanish, 6 credits.
    1997 entering class: average GPA 3.34 (92% above 3.00); 50% female; 72% from PR, 28% continental US. Residents of PR given preference.

    UPR SOM
    Usual science requirements, plus English, 12 credits; Spanish, 12 credits, Sociology/psychology/politicalscience/
    economics/anthropology
    1997 class: mean GPA, 3.65, 99% above 3.0, [2.97-4.00]; mean science GPA, 3.56, 91% above 3.00, [2.81-4.00];
    mean and range MCAT scores: VR 7 [4-11; PS 7 [5-12]; BS 8 [5-12]; WS K/L, [J-R}.
    47% female; 98% from PR; overall acceptance rate, 949 applications, 126 accepted for a class size of 115.
    The numbers for 1998-2000 are probably in the same range or slightly lower.
    School is mainly supported by the Commonwealth, preference is given to US citizens who are legal residents of PR.
