To anyone that can help -- I'd really appreciate any advice. I'm in the process of completing my PASS application for GPRs in New York, and upon finalizing my choices, it seems the specific requirements for these various programs are unclear, based on their pages listed under the PASS website search engine. For example, some ask DIRECTLY for an additional 2X2 photo, plus official NBDE scores, transcripts and your diploma.

Why ask directly for the scores and transcript if they are already being submitted through PASS? And if I *do* need to directly send my NBDE scores & transcript, then how do I coordinate their proper receipt of all these multiple items? (ie tracking whether or not 7 different programs of interest have received all these scattered items seems really tedious, no?)

Other programs even ask for a "supplemental application"; however, when you're directed to the actual hospital website for more info, any clarification about their dental GPR program is practically absent. I assume I'll have to contact the PD directly, but still...not very straightforward (again).

Second question - Are the "PEF"s essentially the same as a letter of recommendation, and is anyone still actually submitting these for this year? All the programs I've looked at state the new "PPI" Evaluation as the requirement, and the PEFs as optional. However, since their is no precedent for this new PPI process, I'm wondering if it would be a bad move to stray from the PEFs altogether (btw, I'm already expecting most will say: "send both anyway; the more, the better!").

Lastly, here is the list of my top choices; if anyone here has any advice, input, etc about any of these programs, I would greatly appreciate it. Again, sorry for the long (blabbering) post 🙂

1. Kings County Hospital
2. Woodhull Medical Center
3. Wyckoff Heights Medical Center
4. Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center
5. LICH, Lutheran Medical Center

I am also applying to GPRs/AEGDs this cycle and have found the website information very scarce. What you listed is exactly what i'm doing. I've picked the places that I'm applying and submitting my pass application, then since none of the websites seem reliable, I'm going to call each program director and ask what other supplemental information I need to send directly to the program. Tedious? Yes. The only way to ensure you're applying properly? Probably.

It is annoying, but it shouldn't take more than an hour to call all the programs and get a list.

Also, I am submitting five PPIs and 3 PEFs to each program. I don't feel like a PPI is really an adequate replacement of a good letter of recommendation from clinical faculty. PPI is essential just a multiple choice form.

Now if only I could get this essay out of the way!

Good luck =)

is it possible to send a program 3 pefs? I thought only 2 were allowed?
I haven't sent my stuff in, still waiting on PEF's to come through, but I thought I read something that said you can send 2 PEF's to a program.
Anyway, I agree with you, PPI's seem silly. I don't see how someone can really be judged off of a PPI. Maybe programs won't take it as seriously this year since it's the first time??

I counted the deans letter as a PEF. So 1 deans letter, and 2 PEFs coming from clinical faculty.

talking about PEF's I'm in somewhat of the same situation. I have 3 PEF's, one from my clinical endo professor, one from a part time restorative faculty, and one from the head of radiology (whom I've worked with and served on a committee with). I'm trying to decide whether to send the PEF from the part time restorative faculty or the head of radio (restorative is more applicable to a GPR app but the head of radiology is potentially a more prestigious position). Any suggestions on which I should send? I feel like the radio letter might be a little better... but idk which is more important.
