The General Practice Residency program at St Barnabas Hospital Dental Department in the Bronx has an opening for a first year resident/PGY-1. The Department of Dentistry has a long history of providing dental postgraduate training including advanced programs in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and dental anesthesia. St. Barnabas is a level one trauma center and serves a diverse patient population .The program provides a broad range of experiences in both clinical and didactic education.
The year provides a substantial and varied clinical experience. Residents will treat a wide variety of patients and provide all aspects of comprehensive dentistry including rotary endodontics, implant placement and restoration, removable and fixed prosthodontics, perio surgery, laser treatments and simple and advanced oral surgery. The clinics have computerized charting, record keeping and appointments and digital radiographs including pan/cephs. Each resident works with a dental assistant. There is an opportunity for clinical research.
Didactically, the program consists of daily lectures on a wide range of topics, teaching rounds, case conferences and journal clubs.
Applicants will be graduating from a CODA approved dental school and be ready for to start the program on July 1, 2015 and be prepared to attend orientation in the end of June.
