I took the GRE a couple of years ago, when applying for schools but didn't get in anywhere. I got a 1450, which I was quite pleased with. I'm reapplying this fall, and I wasn't planning on retaking them, since they are good for 5 years. However, I've recently started wondering, will admissions committees wonder why I didn't update them, maybe think that I'm not serious? What do you all think?

I seriously doubt it. Actually, I would think they would wonder why you did retake them--especially if you ended up getting a lower score.

Don't retake them... no need, no reason, you'd be insane to do so. A 1450 should get you looked at everywhere.
