I got my first semester grades as a freshman.... I did TERRIBLE, DEAD TERRIBLE. I got some good grades in other courses (Chemistry), but I did TERRIBLE on the other ones (Gen Eds). Should I try and drop the one course that I got a bad grade in? I don't think they are going to have a second grade option for the particular course, if I show like excellent improvement, do I still have a chance?

Yes you have a chance. Try to get off SDN, focus on your classes.
