Greetings!!! I was wondering has anyone applied to University of Kansas (Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy Program)? I am curious to know what is your grade point average, extra curriculum, and observation hours? I will be attending an information session next Monday for Occupational Therapy. I believe attending an information session will be beneficial for me. I have this fear of applying and getting rejected. I've spoke with an admission counselor form the occupational therapy department, she stated that "not all 4.0 students make a great occupational therapist." I'm assuming that all admission counselors tell all prospective applicant this. I don't want to waste my time applying. My grade point average at the end of the summer will be 3.045 however my grade point average will improve tremendously by December 2014. My grade point average will be a 3.8 to 40 range since I'm getting a second bachelors degree. I have over 2,000 hours of working with a child who is special needs. I have A's in both Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2. I have my Certified Nurse Assistant License. This summer I will be working at a major hospital. Does anyone have any advice on how to improve my application? I need to be competitive. Thanks in advance.

I'm a bit confused how you are going to go from a 3.045 to a 3.8 with only 1 semester of courses. All courses are averaged. I also had a lot of credits going in. On average, each class I finished and got an A in raised my gpa only by .01 of a point. Have you calculated out the numbers specifically?

Right I get the second bachelors part....but in ptcas you have to enter ALL classes and they calculate all classes for your gpa. Even if your school replaced everything. So your transcript might show a completely different gpa than ptcas. Does that make sense?

Yes! I'm not taking retakes. I'm taking classes for a different major. The only retake I'm taking is College Algebra, Biology, Psychology. It's like I'm starting over. I know ptcas and otcas calculate differently.

I don't know anything about OTCAS but you need to understand that PTCAS will do a general average of all courses from both your first and second degree. You need to sit done and do the math....calculate your average gpa with everything included. There are online tools out there to help. Then, when you are asking questions about schools and chances getting in, people will be able to give you much better advice.

(One more thought for you....in terms of ptcas there is no "starting over" as you keep saying. I'm not sure who told you that, but it's very poor information. I have classes that haunt me from 15 years ago, despite multiple degrees.)

I just read a few of your other posts and see that you haven't really been getting any specific help. This topic is near and dear to my heart as I was right on the gpa cusp too. If you want to post your total number of credits and average gpa from your app along with the number of credits since then and expected grades, I can help you.
