There is this guy in my class. I used to study with him. But I noticed that he always wanted me to ask the questions for him. He rarely asked me any questions during our biochem and anatomy review. The only biochem questions that he asked me was what's "R" or the gas constant. I politely addressed him about the need to ask me questions, he replied, "he just had to learn." Then I replied that I have to learn too you know. I like to play basketball or hang out with this guy, but definitely not to study with him for he always try to psche me out. Lately, I've made some adjustments and decided not to even come to class or to study with him and do my own studying instead. The only class that I go to is anatomy lab or classes that required participation like dotoring or ethics. The guy saw me in lab and smiled with a smirk and asked me how's my studying going. It seemed to me like he thought that I will fail the next set of exams and I can tell that he enjoys seeing me fail. I was trying to read my dissector today and he kept staring at me and asked me to "tell me what you learn in there." I mean you're going to be a doctor, why can't you just focus on your own studying and leave other people alone. It annoys me but I guess some people are just the way they are. Do you guys ever feel the pressure of a gunner going after you?

I am really sorry that this guy is such a jerk. Just remember that these matters will only get to you if you allow it. I would be nice to him, only because you know that on a very real level, his entire life will be marred by his selfishness. You don't have to avoid that guy or treat him poorly, but just don't enable him to be a jerk.

My advice is to find someone else to study with. I think that the majority of people out there trying to be doctors are bright and compassionate people, who want their peers to be as competent they themselves are.

Gunners can track fear like a hungry wolf tracking the blood trail of a wounded antelope.

lol I hope that I am not as bad as the wounded antelope. I was just feeling annoyed by him and the tactics that some people use to get ahead in life, which may not be good for them in the long run.

People who do that are almost always profoundly insecure. I agree with everybody else--just ignore him and avoid him and hope he goes into pathology. :D

think of the old adage: "keep your friends close and your enemies closer." maybe he's intimidated by you and wanted to study with you to guage your progress. now that you've pulled away, he can only guess what you're up to, and his lame attempts to psyche you out are really a reflection of his own security. tune him out and compete with yourself. it's easy to get lost in the noise of braggarts or pre-exam hysterics. find a few good people, and study with them when you feel it will benefit you (give and take, of course). let him be. who really knows how he's doing.

good luck to you!

That might be bc studying Grant's for exams and in too much detail tends to be more of a distraction than useful. At least that was my experience.

For every gunner out there, there is also a genuine, caring person you can befriend and be your study partner. Don't let this guy bring you down.

I've actually found it pretty useful. It's a good source for landmarks.
