by reputation, quality of education/happiness of students and location?

I'd love to get some opinions on these schools..My opinion?

Based on my experiences (not having gone to Finch or NYMC)

St. Louis
GW
Albany
NYMC
Finch

What do you guys think? 🙂

Hey, peanut, changing your name again? Are you cream cheese or peanut? 😀

I have no idea how to rank those schools, having only been to Albany. I guess if I had to try at this point, I'd say:

GW
Albany
SLU

But it's hard to rank based on all the criteria you mentioned (especially when one hasn't been there), so I guess I'm just going on reputation. For location I'd say:

GW
SLU
Albany

I know zilch about the other two, so won't even try. I'm curious about why you put SLU first.

Whoa!! I can't keep up with the name changes here!! 😛

Hey SMW,

Sorry about the name changes..I couldn't decide! 😀 then..

I picked SLU first..because of the school facilities..They seemed better then GW's..(what I saw in the tour at least). For location, GW is the best..I've seen Valhalla and Albany..they are ok..but DC is great! I guess I'll have a better idea when I actually visit Finch and NYMC in january.

How's your own process going? I hope well!

Later, 🙂

Adding MCPHU to the list:

Reputation:

GW
SLU
MCPHU
Albany
NYMC
Finch

Location:

GW
NYMC (at least NY is within reach)
Finch (same argument at NYMC)
MCPHU
SLU

But this is a tough call. They are all good schools (kinda funny how they are all "good" yet this is arguable the bottom of the totem pole for private schools).

Got rejected from Mayo today, 🙁 but I was amazed to get the phone interview in the first place! I have 5 and possibly 6 interviews in February, so trying to get decent airfares from Alaska is keeping me busy.

I have only been to GW, Finch, and Albany. By location and/or reputation, I would rank GW the highest. I think Albany has a better reputation than Finch. Albany probably has a better location because it is in the middle of a decent sized town, but Finch is close to Chicago, but not that close.

sorry to hear about mayo ... their loss obviously.

Fabulous that you have a bunch of interviews lined up for feb ... good luck at all of them. I'm sure you'll get into multiple schools and then you can play god and start rejecting some and not others completely arbitrarily. 😀

can we plz add penn state to the mix as well 🙂

here is how I rank them ... reputaion only.

GWU/penn state
SLU
MCPHU
Albany
NYMC
Finch

Why on Earth would Penn State get added to this list? It shares the reputation of every other state-funded school.

NO way albany is even third. Make albany last. If your rankin it on the overall. Their students and staffs are some of the most friendly, but their facilities suck ass. Their gym is about the size of my room, and bioinformatics (for school and hospital) is only ten years behind, and as far as the location--albany has nothing to do. And its too far way from any major city. For 34k/year...pretty expensive. They are making progress though, and might be good in a few years. NYMC is far more stellar. Good location, students very happy, good facilities, etc(these are the only interviews out of the list i've had so far)

Hey! There's stuff to do in Albany...and you won't get too distracted 🙂

And just what is the reputation of "every other state funded school"? ...I don't think all state funded schools are of same caliber, plus I felt that penn state is comparable (academically) to the others on the list and am curious to find out what others think of the school.

In my interview at PSU, they emphasized that it is a private institution. It's a very strong school, in my opinion--probably stronger than many on this lsit. The location is a negative for me, though.

Bump.

I'd like to know this, too; I have an acceptance at one of these schools and an upcoming interview at another, and I'm trying to decide whether I should go...

This thread is 8 years old. Why not make a new thread about the topic?

In any case, all are great schools. Think about cost and location (the schools listed are in vastly different cities).
