I guess it depends on who you ask. For 1st and 2nd years, it might be nice to be in Foggy Bottom, as that way you can just walk to and from class and can go home during breaks in the middle of the day. However, it costs a lot to live right by the school and a parking spot around there is usually about $150-200 a month extra.

It's also pretty convenient to live in Arlington near a Metro stop along the Orange or Blue lines. I really don't know much about Maryland, but some people do live there. A lot of people also live in other parts of DC near a Metro stop.
