Does anyone know how the GWU waitlist works?

Give them a call and talk to them. They were quite friendly, and happy to explain how it works.

Here's what I know:

They advised (like at the interview) that you should express interest in the school. The alternate list (same thing as waitlist) is not ranked. However, there is something called an "upper echelon" list, that is created in May from people on the alternate list who have expressed interest in the school (or at least that's what they told me). They said there would be no alternate list movement until at least May.

And as we all are probably aware, they was very little alternate list movement last year, and there didn't really need to be any because the class was full already. They had like fifteen extra people last year or something, but this year they are being much more conservative in handing out acceptances.
