Does I2, OH- (followed by protonation) break a cyclic ketone to form a single, straight chain carboxylic acid?

Generally speaking you only see the haloform for methyl ketones.

But I can't 100% guarantee you that you couldn't get reaction to occur with a cyclic ketone. It would be a lot slower though.
