And should you use blue or black ink? Fountain or ball-point pen? Staples or tape?

hand write but instead of ink (how common) use your blood-
this shows the medical school that your are truly interested and that you can deal with body fluids😉

Yea, simmer down over there!😛
I wouldn't get that angry unless someone bumped the thread titled "I'm having a NeRvOuS BrEaKdoWn" back up to the top! I'm usually a pretty calm guy, but at that point, I would throw my own head into the monitor, picture that!😱

hehehehehehehehehehe
given my often perverse sense of humor - went thread searching - but alas, it is unbumpable, guess mike59's monitor is spared ffor the day...

how about gay & out. that was a great one 😉

You're quick to express concern for the monitor, but what about the beautiful head that would go through the screen? Does it not get any respect?🙁

URMs and gay applicants can handwrite their applications, especially if they're only applying to DO schools 😛

I'd type it, but then, even my closest friends can't read my writing...

Should I type out the address on the envelopes I use to mail my secondaries in?

oh wait, I'm done with that part of the application process. Nevermind.

Adcom people read TONS of applications.

They don't know the difference between on applicant and the next. All they know is that they have to cut most of them.

Handwritten applications can suggest that you aren't professional and don't take the admissions process seriously.

I'm not entirely sure about this...but is there actually a rule that tells you to wear a suit to interviews? I've seen people come to interviews wearing nice long sleeved shirts and slacks. Saw one guy in a burgandy shirt with no tie.

Remember, medicine is a very conservative profession. You don't want to give adcoms any excuse to cut you.

Amazingly enough, for the Hopkins secondary I hand wrote it and was miraculously accepted!

It was only 4 of about 20 secondaries that I wrote by hand, because the others were computerized or on the internet.

So I'm a living testament that it IS possible to get accepted even with a handwritten secondary.

That being said, if I had to go thru the process again I would type it. I was just too lazy and didnt want to waste money on a typewriter at the time that I knew I would never use again.

i've gotten interviews from almost all of the schools i handwrote the app for and hardly any of the schools i typed them for. what does this mean? 😛
