Anyone else's college have a big rally on the quad for this day? We apparently have a ton of hippies here at the U of I and they have all congregated to the biggest beavis and butthead spectacle I have seen. They even have these people speaking on the microphone about 'pot facts'. One guy gets up there and says

".... Drug Prohibition is just a sign of continuing racism... Marijuana was made illegal in Texas because it brought in a large number of illegal aliens from mexico, Coccaine was banned b/c the African Americans were using it in the South, and in California, ...the ugh... ugh.. it .. ugh.. banned the people who came from asia. yeah, so drug prohibition is just a racism continuation, yeah.." 😕

Seriously... lay of the drugs buddy!!!

Marijuana was actually made illegal to supress the illegal aliens, it stayed illegal for the same reason cocaine went from over the counter to illegal...the church (women's christian temp union). So your hippies have the facts straight. The thing in south central L.A. revolves around the CIA and the crack laws. The CIA knew it was going to go there, and they didnt say anything about it. May have been a good choice, but not in a time of peace...anyway, McCoy is a prof here at Madison and his class covers all of this stuff (he did all the undercover journalism and wrote "politics of heroin"). The crack law thing is totally seperate, that is just an obvious racist piece of legislation when the same dose of a drug is punished worse by a group of people who use it in the same way. So maybe they were too stoned to make a good arguement, but they were on the right track. I "guess" your hippies really aren't all hippies...a lot of people understand the situation. If you want hippies go to UC santa barbara or come here at least

actually, 4/20 is my birthday, and I turned 21 this year. Boy, three nights at the bars in a row is awesome. I was out with a nursing student, a pre-pharmacy student (she just got into a prestigious pharm school), a med tech student, and a business grad student. Smart kids party hard! 😀 👍
