Happy New Year!

I just completed my FAFSA renewal for the 2006-2007 year, and wanted to give a friendly reminder to all of you students to get those done.

Remember: You can estimate your income and taxes based on the previous year's FAFSA, and submit a correction once the detailed information comes in.

Is it worth turning in a "guesstimated" FAFSA if you just have to change it later? I dont think my income changed much, but I was just curious.

Yes. You may qualify for grants and loans (i.e. Perkins) that are only given out to a limited number of people at your school.

What is considered early FAFSA filing to be in contention to get grant money? I completed my FAFSA online on Jan 11th and I believe it was sent to the school on Jan 13th. Am I early enough to possibly get some grant money?
