My AMCAS was processed about two weeks ago. I took the August MCAT, and I am still waiting on the secondaries from the following schools:

Harvard
Duke
Hopkins
Maryland

I don't think any of these schools screen. Can anyone verify:
1. Do any of these schools screen? (I don't think so)
2. How are the secondaries sent out? (email or snail mail)
3. Which of these secondaries require an essay? If so, are any of these writing intensive? (I know the Duke is supposedly a bitch, what about the other three?)


ALSO, I am waiting on:
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
Colorado

I am pretty sure these schools screen, and they will wait until I get my MCAT score to send out the secondaries. Can anyone verify this? How are these secondaries to fill out? Lots of essays?

Hopkins
- doesn't screen
- just go online and fill out the secondary. They take forever to snailmail you the invite.
- requires a few essays. But they aren't that bad.

UMD
- pretty sure UMD doesn't screen
- their secondary is online, but you have to wait for them to e-mail you a password
- requires a few essays. This app was a little harder for me b/c I couldn't cut and paste from the other apps I have completed. The "what does it mean to be entering a profession" took me forever to write.

Duke
- everyone receives a secondary
- secondary is online. They e-mail you the invite.
- the essays SUCK

Couple of corrections: JHU invite is by e-mail (1st hand experience); UMD does screen (how can they not- it is a state school) and they first interview instate applicants.

Nope, we all get UMD secondaries this year.

I didn't get an e-mail to complete the JHU secondary. Maybe it's b/c I sumitted the secondary without waiting for the invite. Who knows. Pretty sure I got a snailmail invite to complete the secondary a month after I already submitted it though

I got my Colorado secondary quite some time ago, but I'm a resident. Maybe that has something to do with it?

And just a generic complaint: could my letter writers be any slower? 🙄

Harvard supposedly doesn't screen, do they? Why can't they just put up the secondary? Have people heard from UCSF and UW?

Yup, send your LORs in too 🙂

I'm assuming you took the Aug MCATs and that's why you're submitting stuff now? You want you file to be as close to complete as possible, so that when your MCAT scores come out, you're ready to be reviewed by the AdCom. That way you'll be a little ahead of the other Aug MCATers...

I got my JHU invite by snail mail too with a big info book so it could be coming in the mail. But like others said it is all online. I had it submitted before I got the snailmail.

When I just got back from the bar, Colorado was sitting in my mailbox. It was a suprise, I didn't think they gave secondaries to out-of-staters who didn't have an MCAT score yet.

Dont worry, i was processed more than a month ago and i only got the maryland secondary yesterday (thursday) and i got the hopkins secondary a week ago. I say give them another week or so and you'll get it. besides, maryland doesnt start interviewing till october anyway. it says so on their secondary and they let you choose which dates you DONT want to interview.
