Hi everyone,

I'm looking into the harvard post-bacc program--the director just sent me some info (basically what's on the website) and the application to the HCP. What I'm not clear on is if you find out before starting whether or not you have sponsorship, or if it's something you find out when you apply to med-school from their program.

Also, if anyone who is or has attended this program, any comments are appreciated.

Thanks!!

Amy

did you do a search?
there was a thread on this WAAAAY back like august 2002 back. and a couple people who had actually been in the program were pretty supportive of it.

The program is good. Cost of living in Boston/Cambridge, on the other hand, is a b**ch.

Yes, definitely do a search on this topic since I KNOW that there was a pretty extensive on a while back. I read a lot of stuff on the "post bacc" threads and I think that the general consensus is that Harvard's program is good and inexpensive.

As for your question regarding the sponsorship, from what I know, you have to attend the program first (they have some sort of minimun number of class/units you have to had taken through the program--check out the grid b/c it depends on your undergrad GPA). After finishing those minimum number of units and getting good grades (oh, and paying a few hundred dollars) they compile a letter for you.

I didn't attend the program, but have been thinking about that possibility--this is what I got from all the information I've read on this thread.

By the way, I think classes are only once a week so it leaves you a lot of time to do other things--maybe study more or even a part time job.
