The Harvard School of Dental Medicine is in receipt of your AADSAS application for admission to the 2011 entering class. Please be advised that HSDM is currently undergoing staff turnover in the Admissions Office which may result in a slower than usual admissions cycle. This will not in any way effect the consideration of your application or your chances of being interviewed and accepted. Please read on to the end of this email as it contains complete information on how the admissions process is conducted at Harvard.

Here is an outline of what you may expect during the coming months:

Application Processing: August 2010- January 2011
This phase may take longer than you expect due to the number of applications received by the Admissions Office at the peak of the admissions cycle. Applications will be processed in the order they are received and considered complete with the receipt of letter(s) of recommendation, official DAT scores (sent via AADSAS) and the $75 HSDM application fee. Application fees should be a check or money order and should include the applicant’s name and AADSAS number. Mail to Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Office of Admissions DMD program, 188 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115. During the process you may receive a one-time email listing items missing from your application. You will receive an email notification once your application is complete. Applications submitted to AADSAS by the Dec 15, 2010 deadline must be completed by January 15,2011 to be reviewed. No exceptions will be made.

Application Screening/Review: September 2010-January 2011
Complete applications are advanced to the Screening Committee of the Admissions Committee for review. Each complete application is read in its entirety by two members of the Admissions Committee. This process may take up to a month or more depending on the volume of applications being reviewed. Your patience is requested as HSDM conduct a careful review of each application.

Denied Applications: Snail mail notifications begin November 2010
Candidates who are not selected for interview (application denied) will be notified by snail mail beginning November 2010. Application denied letters will be sent on a rolling basis throughout the remainder of the admissions cycle.

Interviews: September 2010-February 2011
You will be contacted by the Office of Admissions if you are selected for an interview.
Interviews are usually held on Thursday and Fridays from September through February. Invited applicants will be able to select a convenient interview date based on our schedule.

Admissions Decisions: December 1, 2010- March 2011
Offers of admission will begin in December. Places in the class will remain available until all applicants selected for an interview have been interviewed and reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
Interviewed candidates who are placed on the Waiting List will be notified by snail mail beginning December 5, 2010.
Interviewed candidates who have been denied by the Committee will be notified by snail mail beginning December 5, 2010.

When was your application complete?

Anyone heard from Harvard? I haven't even received the application status email

yeah i got that email too. I think they're just taking a little longer because well, they're harvard, and because of the admissions officer turnover..

i applied june 8, mailing date july 2

Yeah, it seems that they are a month behind compared to last year. My application was completed on Sept 9th, so I guess that might explain why I have not heard from them yet.
