I'm looking for anyone that graduated from an ACGME (not dual accredited) residency that took AOBIM since the merger (in the last year or two). There is a lot of conflicting info regarding what I need to do to become board eligible to even take AOBIM. AOA is telling me I will need to go through the whole process including doing having AOA approve my residency, do a CME, etc.

From what I heard this went away after the merger but it seems like I still need to get my PGY 1 AOA approved?

I have not met a single person that has taken AOBIM and now I'm wondering if anyone really does. It would help to talk to someone that has actually gone through this process in the past year.

Why would you want to?
I am going into a fellowship that is only offering AOBIM certification. I'm not exactly sure the reason, possibly since the ACGME accreditation is initial? But I have been told I am required to take the AOA board
