has anyone heard back from NYCOM after recent interviews

I called NYCOM today about my status and was told that no letters from the admissions committee have been sent out recently. Just wondering, is this true?

I'm wondering too. I interviewed just about 4 weeks ago, and nothing yet. Although I didn't expect anything before now since we were told it would take about 4 weeks to be notified. I plan to call by the end of this week if I don't hear anything.

Anyone else?

I also interviewed at NYCOM 4 weeks ago and the waiting is killing me! I was going to call this week, but from reading these posts it seems like nothing will come of it.

Does anyone have info regarding when the adcom meets? Or how long it will take for me to officially lose my mind? :scared:

I think that every-other second of the day. Why do you think you'll be waitlisted? (If you don't mind my asking)

I just called - They said they are still reviewing the files and I should hear shortly . . . grumble, grumble, grumble . . . Of course I'm reading into way too far it  and thinking, "What's that suppose to mean?!"

OMG thank you guys so much for posting. I feel a little calmer knowing that I'm so the only one thats been waiting (this week is week 7 and counting). NYCOM is my only option at this point and I have been losing my mind. Worrying and and worrying and then worrying some more. I have been reading these other posts regarding being waitlisted and was sure that was my fate until I read comments from the other students waiting. PHEWWW, thanks for responding

The biggest thing I learned when waiting to hear back from my NYCOM interview is that they don't like to tell you anything!! Some people got their letters in the mail days before others and some people were told over the phone when they called to ask! WHen I called to ask they denied ever telling anyone and said they don't do that!!?!! Sometimes they'd tell people the adcom met already and then they'd tell others it didn't. This process will drive you insane and the NYCOM secrateries won't help any either!! Just sit back and try to forget about it, I know this is nearly impossible though. SDN won't help keep your sanity now either, I know I checked it every 20 minutes. Good luck! And if you're wondering it took them 5 or 6 weeks to give me their decision, although I see some of you are way past that already!

well cuz I interviewed back in mid february and have heard nothing yet-so.....I called them and they said no decision has been made which I'm assuming will be waitlist,

or i dunno does that just mean they'll wait it out so that at the end it's either reject or accept? i.e. I don't even make it to waitlist, in which case why and when would they do that? I"m thinking it's cuz all my recs were from MDs/pHds and they're thinking I lack the motivation to go to DO?

I feel like this is all a mind f**k. I wish there was a way to make it so that my check wouldn't clear until they sent me out a letter, any letter, rejection, waitlist, or acceptace. That would speed them up a little

Hi All-

My name is Shannon; I am a future NYCOMer for the fall, and I have put together a contact list for committed students. In doing so, I have had a few occassions to talk directly with Taryn Croot in order to ask some pressing questions... one of which was asked yesterday... "Where is the admissions office in reviewing applications, filling the class, notifying students, and finalizing letters?"

Taryn Croot informed me that they are finishing up their interviews in the next ten days or so. She fully intends to get final letters out to everyone who has interviewed (and will interview) within the next six weeks to two months. As the interview cycle comes to a close, a bottleneck effect takes over, where there are just so many applications and only so many people and hours to work through them. She did not say the class was full or that they are only interviewing for waitlist positions, so do not lose hope!!! They are working very hard to give everyone an equal opportunity to be fully reviewed and considered for a position.

Please do not lose hope; remember that even if you are accpted August 21 (the day before orientations starts), you are just as qualified and deservant of being our classmate! Please also have hope knowing that many people will release their seats at NYCOM very soon as decisions are made to attend other schools. I wish you all the luck I can, and please feel free to contact me if you have more questions or get accepted and want to be added to our list of students. It will help in finding housing, roommates, study groups, friends, and allies :)!

Best of luck!

I interviewed March 16th and am still waiting to hear from them too. This is week 7. It's such a relief to hear that other people are still waiting and i might have some good news: a classmate of mine interviewed the same day as me and he heard 2 weeks later - rejection. Maybe this means we're not automatically rejected and are under consideration? I hate waiting but I don't want to keep pestering the admissions office. Yuck.

NYCOM has mailed out "a batch of letters" last week regarding decisions. Hopefully we'll all hear soon. Although not everyone will get a letter, I talked to Taren Croot last week and she said that the committee is still deciding on me, so most likely I'll only hear in the next month (i interviewd on March 8). She also said that it might be a goood thing that they have kept me around but does not want to speculate or bring my hopes up. Any way, the wait continues.

I just called Ms. Croot - thanks for the idea ksmtkiss- and she said no decision has been made on my application either. She pretty much told me the same thing, that they haven't waitlisted or rejected me yet and that's not a bad thing. Within the next month everyone will hear something but a month is a long time away. (interview March 16)

3.3 undergrad gpa, 33 mcat (11's), currently a bit above 3.0 postbacc gpa (drexel IMS)...apparently doing as good as the avg drexel med student isn't helping me out :(

WOW. Why would they ever waitlist you? You are far beyond the NYCOM average. I was going to do the IMS program but I thought they were offering no guarantee and tuition was outrageous. Do u feel that it did anything for u?

i was processed in early december i believe

as for IMS...i think it did a wonderful job of letting me know what i can expect in med school (at least for first 2 years). i know when i do get in i will do well, one for knowing how to approach the coursework and two b/c i'll have seen a lot of it already (biochem, histo, physio, nutrition, immuno, neuro)

but as for helping me get into med school...doesn't seem to have done the trick yet. the guaranteed interview goes to all those who get b's or better in about february (NO B-'s...i hate you histology and biochem!) of those who got the interview that i have talked to (it is a touchy subject so i can't go around asking everyone) the majority seem to ahve been waitlisted, but that might just be b/c they are holding off till all the grades are in....i do know that several ppl did get in though.

but i do have the option of coming back here next year and getting my masters while taking pathology and doing research...so leaves me an option

drexel does have another post bac track MSP, where IMS is the second year and u get a masters for those 2 years...to me it seems like ppl in that track have had more success in getting into schools

let me know if u have other questions :)

You stat is pretty high, maybe they think you are applying NYCOM as a backup? Try to send in LOI if you are really thinking about going there. May that would help. Good Luck.

found out i got waitlisted today for nycom too. Interviewed March 16th, found out May 17th. Annoying.... Does anyone know how long it will be before I hear back from NYCOM? Is it in order of priority or rolling so whoever sends in their response first is taken off the list first?
